Sally Breen |
Living by the ocean is the inspiration for the show opening at the Water Mill Museum July 16th – August 10th. Painter Sally Breen has lived in Water Mill for the past 10 years and draws on the continual change of the light and reflection of our environment for her paintings. “Painting allows me to tap into my inner peace. The process is a healthy exchange between the oils and myself. Sometimes things settle down in a matter of days, often the paintings and I live through many transitions before I can walk away from the conversation. I have been trained in the traditional school of painting, however I am most content when I let the painting direct me in an intuitive, reflective way.” Sally Breen received a BFA from Syracuse University, also studied at the New York Academy of Art, SUNY Purchase, NY, Westchester Art Workshop in White Plains NY, and New York University. She has shown locally on the east end and is currently a member of the Crazy Monkey Gallery artist cooperative in Amagansett. She is a co-founder, with Daniel Schoenheimer, of the Local Art Rag (localartrag.com), the East End’s first directory for artists, musicians and the businesses that support the arts. |
